I mentioned in a previous post that Daniel and I have been brainstorming ways to fundraise for a few things. One of the things we have been thinking about is how to get Daniel to the Philippines again this year. He was blessed to get to go last year, while I stayed home with Isaiah and our 5 week old Glory. The year before, many of you helped to get both of us there by participating in my cloth diaper fundraiser. That fundraiser was so successful, and we decided to give it a go again, only this time we are going to open it up to more than just the cloth diaper users out there (although these fundraisers are always an excellent way to convert people to cloth!). My diapers are up for sale again, only they come with a few improvements that I think you will like (well, okay at least some of you…the rest of you either don’t have babies or you cringe at the thought of cloth diapers…for the cringing crowd, check out my posts “The Yuck Factor”, and “Wash and Reuse? Yeah, Right.”). In addition to diapers, I decided that since my sewing skills go beyond diapers, I ought to be expanding my wares. So there will be a few neat items to pop up for sale all in the name of fundraising. I am hoping to do a few children’s clothing items and blankets (made with the oh-so-amazingly soft fabric I use for my diapers), along with any specially requested items.
I mentioned there was more than one cause we have been looking for ways for which to fundraise, and I am sooooo excited to share with you the second one. Our pastor and his wife are in the process of adopting at least two children from Ethiopia. I say at least two, because they are really trying to get as many as they are allowed to have, but the number hasn’t been determined yet by the powers that be, so for now, it is at least two. As you can imagine, that is not a cheap thing to do and we have wanted to give to help them be able to get their children, but alas, we haven’t had anything to give. So we have decided that this fundraiser will go in part toward our pastor’s sweet beautiful children’s adoption.
So stay tuned!
Kerry,
You and Daniel are such a treasure to us. May the Lord bless you with peace and great joy (yes, even greater joy than you already know).
Kerry, thanks for updating the blog! It makes the miles in between us seem not quite as long.
As funny as this may sound, it’s posts like this that give me such joy in my spirit and gratitude in my heart that God sovereignly brought you and Daniel together “so many” years ago. I love that your hearts and lives are equally and jointly pursuing the gospel with such faithfulness and steadfastness.
I’m really bummed we won’t see you at the wedding, so I hope we can make a trip out there sooner than later.
Love you guys!
