Abortion and Health Care Reform

Here is a news segment I recieved a link to through Americans United for Life about AUL’s recent visit to the White House to meet with Obama’s top officials. AUL’S primary concern in the meeting was making it clear to the White House that any health care reform bill needs to protect life and to state again the need for an explicit amendment that would forbid federal tax dollars to pay for abortions. AUL was very dissatisfied and even more concerned after the meeting and this news segment tells why. Please take a few minutes to watch it and see how President Obama and the Democratic leaders have been incredibly sneaky in their presentation of these bills and why their claims that the health care bills do not contain mandates for federally funded abortion are completely false. Then go contact your congressmen and tell them any health care reform bill they vote for MUST have an explicit amendment forbidding federal funding of abortion.
Sheets

I just put Isaiah down for his nap, but before I did, I needed to change his sheets because he had wet in them last night (not a frequent thing, I am happy to say!) I told him I had to change his sheets and when I finished, he climbed in bed and pointed to his sheets and said “My sheeps!”
Soldiers in Afghanistan

My brother David is in the Army and is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Isaiah and I went down to Tennessee to visit him and his family before he deployed in July. It was about three days before he was leaving, so we spent a lot of time just hanging out while he packed. We had a little fun with some of his gear too.

Please pray for David and the soldiers he is with. He has asked for prayer that he would be a bold witness for Christ among his co-workers. He has asked for prayer that he would remain faithful to Christ in a world where Christ is not valued. Pray that his feet will step firmly, both spiritually and physically, that he would not fall into the traps of his spiritual enemy or his physical enemies. Pray for the other soldiers in Afghanistan who are also believers in Christ. Pray that they would be stirred to a greater obedience to Christ that would cause their fellow soldiers to see and glorify the One True God!
One awesome piece of technology….I think.

Daniel got an iPod Touch today and I must say it is a pretty amazing piece of technology. Like does anyone remember those little hand held things they used on Star Trek? The iTouch is EXACTLY the same thing, only it is probably cooler. However….I found this written in the product information guide:
“Discontinue use and consult a physician if you experience convulsion, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, involuntary movement, or disorientation.”
Maybe I should be concerned…
I guess I could be okay with the convulsions if we could figure out how to make it do Daniel’s homework…..and the dishes.
Hey Dude! Let’s go to church!

So the other day Isaiah found his prized sunglasses, put them on and said, ”Hey Dude!”

Then later that same day, I was in the kitchen and heard the front door knob rattling with Isaiah saying, “church! church!” I entered the living room to find this:

The two most necessary items one must have for church: shoes, and kangaroo. Never mind about the pants.
Belly at 13 Weeks and Gender Poll
Posted September 7, 2009 by kentuckywilsonsCategories: Pictures, Pregnancy, Uncategorized
I am officially 14 weeks as of yesterday, but here is my 13 week belly picture for those of you who have been asking….(Mary)
Sorry it’s a little blurry.

We are having an ultrasound in two and a half more weeks….long story about why it is so early (nothing is wrong, just a mix up with dates is all), but we are getting one….so we are hoping the little one will be ready to show us his or her gender. It will be a little early, but still may be possible, so….any guesses?
Happy Birthday Daniel!

Yesterday was Daniel’s birthday. A quarter of a century! I love this man with every ounce of my being. He is ten million times more patient a man than I ever could have imagined I needed, but after three years of marriage, that patience has proven to be a main part of the glue in our relationship. He is constantly pursuing Christlikeness and challenging me to do the same. He has such a love and concern for others that is constantly teaching and rebuking me to have more of the same. He is fun and silly, but also serious and thoughtful. He is such a fun dad too! Just today he decided that Isaiah needed to start learning about forts so he built a fort in our living room with a (pink!) sheet and a bunch of kitchen chairs. My living room looks like a pepto bismol bomb hit it, but they had a blast! He is commited to the church of Christ. His desire to see the youth at Cedar Grove grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ is contagious and exciting. His diligence to learn as much as he possible can while in seminary only that he might be more helpful to the church is astounding. His efforts to remain a good husband and father who is available in spite of all that he has on his schedule means the world to his family. I could go on and on…
I love him and am excited to see him turn 30 and 35 and 40 and 50, should the Lord allow. I can’t even begin to imagine what kind of man he will be after that many more years of growth in Christ!
Happy Birthday Daniel.

Catechism for a two year old…
Posted September 4, 2009 by kentuckywilsonsCategories: Uncategorized
Daniel and I have been working on a catechism with Isaiah. We are using “A Catechism for Boys and Girls” found in the Truth and Grace Memory Books by Thomas Ascol. These books can be used from age two all the way through high school and include memory verses, a catechism, and some hymns and creeds of our faith. I think they are great because they have so many things organized by age in one resource. It is a great place for parents of toddlers to start because it is so simply organized. Isaiah now has the first three catechism questions down.
Here are the first three questions and Isaiah’s response….we can’t help but giggle every time he says them.
Question #1: Who made you?
Answer: God made me. Isaiah’s answer: “Dodd.”
Question #2: What else did God make?
Answer: God made all things. Isaiah’s answer: “Awww teens.”
Question #3: Why did God make you and all things?
Answer: For His own glory. Isaiah’s answer: “Own dory.”
Potty Time!
Posted September 1, 2009 by kentuckywilsonsCategories: Isaiah, Pictures, Uncategorized
Last Monday we began potty training Isaiah. Now, a week into it, we are happy to say he gets it…at least most of the time! Chocolate chips were our treat of choice for most of last week, but we just discovered that marshmallows are much much more effective! Isaiah also was promised a toy train for that first #2 on the potty and he earned it on Sunday and gave us a hearty “yay!” to let us know he had done it. Here he is enjoying his prize!
